Can Caitlin Clark still become an NWSL team owner in the near future?
In the area of women's sports there is not a bigger star than Caitlin Clark. The Monica's Mcnutt's of the world have tried to say otherwise. However, every metric proves that Clark has advanced not just the WNBA but the landscape of professional sports for women in the United States and abroad.
There is no doubt stars in the WNBA and other women's sports such as Sabrina Ioenescu and Rae Burrell of the WNBA, Jessica Pegula in tennis or Trinity Rodman and Emma Sears in the NWSL. But the star still remains the brightest around Clark.
Racing Louisville FC is struggling with attendance in the NWSL despite other teams finding success with a fanbase and merchandise sales. Now the team might be sold. If that happens, the new ownership group may be looking to relocate.
Cailtin Clark was a part of an ownership group looking to bring the NWSL to Cinncinnati
That group lost the bid with another Ohio based city was awarded a franchise in Columbus. Now FC Cinncinnati is looking again and talking to the owners or Racing Louisville about a possible sale of the team. Clark has not yet been linked to those talks.
However, if the new possible investors were lookin to bring in a star or ambassador they would be hard pressed to look past Clark. they do win the bid, bringing back Clark as an investor will automatically bring in eyes and fans of Clark to possibly support the team.
She attracts attention and is extremely well spoken and understands how to bring in fans. Racing Louisville FC's owners have stated that things need to change. Would they consider speaking to Clark and her team as investors in Racing already? Again, no one brings in a crowd like Clark even as an owner and ambassador. Louisville may flock to more games if this does occur.
If she was a part of the investment in either a new team or Racing, should we not be the only WNBA player to invest in an NWSL organization. Sabrina Ioenescu is an investor and advisor to Bay FC. Clark's teammate on the Indiana Fever Aliyah Boston is also an investor in Boston FC Legacy.
Having interest among other leagues and among female athletes is a strong way to gather interest overall. Having a star like Clark rejoin the investment into the NWSL with only further the push for the league and the NWSL to grow.
