The acquisition of Gonçalo Ramos grabbed the headlines during the summer because of its unprecedented cost for Milan, but Diego Moreira could be almost as expensive.

According to Calcio e Finanza, the Rossoneri have given RC Strasbourg a €51M base fee for the versatile wing player, but the sum can rise significantly. They’ll pay €2M if he notches ten goal contributions. He’s already up to three.

A consistent portion of the add-ons are tied to how much Moreira plays in 2026/2026, as Milan will shell out between €1M and €5M depending on how many times he starts and stays on the pitch for at least 45 minutes, if he does it at least 15 occasions.

RC Strasbourg will continue to cash in if the Belgian international remains in San Siro long-term. They’ll receive €2M once he renews his contract and €4M if he does it twice.

Furthermore, there’s a €1M seasonal bonus triggered by UEFA Champions League qualification, with €500k more if the Rossoneri win the Scudetto. Instead, the figure lowers to €256k for the second-tier continental competition.

The two teams have agreed that the convoluted add-ons will amount to at most €14.3M. That would raise the outlay to €67.8M, making the 22-year-old the club’s second richest signing ever. The French side could also pocket a variable percentage of a potential future transfer.

Our Take on Milan and Moreira

Their owner was directly involved in the negotiation. There’s a fine line between being decisive enough not to miss out on priority targets and falling into traps. The disbursement will probably be disproportionate, but at least he has looked good early on. Hopefully, the structure of the bonuses won’t affect his playing time.
