The mural of Franco Baresi outside Casa Milan has been vandalised for a second time, just over two weeks after it was restored.

According to MilanNews24, black paint was used to cover the captain’s armband and the Milan crest on the shorts of the legendary defender. Tgcom24 reports that the European Cup Baresi is holding aloft was also blacked out.

The artwork in Piazza Gino Valle was created by street artist Luca Rosada, known as Lucas Street Art, as a tribute to the former Milan captain, who died at the end of July at the age of 66.

Baresi mural already defaced in September

The mural was first damaged on September 27, when red spray paint was used to cover Baresi’s face. Milan city councillor Alessandro Giungi called it “a vile and wretched gesture”, while Milan worked to identify those responsible.

Rosada then recreated the piece, producing a larger version showing the smiling legend, which was unveiled on October 10.

The latest attack has once again caused outrage among Milan supporters.

The iconic defender spent his entire 20-year playing career with the Rossoneri, winning six Scudetti and three European Cups. The club retired his No 6 shirt after he stopped playing in 1997. He also won the 1982 World Cup with Italy.
