Andoni Iraola has said Liverpool forward Alexander Isak 'is the closest thing to a guarantee' of goals.

Isak has started the season in fine form for Liverpool and has scored seven goals in 13 appearances across all competitions. His six goals in the Premier League are second only to Erling Haaland in the Golden Boot standings.

The Swedish striker came off the bench to score during defeat at Fenerbahce in midweek, continuing his good form.

Isak endured a difficult debut season at Liverpool that was punctuated by a serious leg injury, but has looked closer to his best level this time around.

Iraola said Liverpool are working to get the most from Isak, who he said is a 'guarantee' of goals in the right areas of the pitch.

"Alex is a top goal scorer. If we can put him more in the position to score he will deliver, that is not a guarantee but is the closest thing to a guarantee," The Spaniard said at his pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool's tip to Crystal Palace.

"Like every player, he can add more things to his game but we want to use [more] the things that he has. He is very good at attacking the space, attacking the channels, coming to receive the ball is very clean, also.

"We are trying to use Isak in the best way."
