AC Milan Women 3-0 Ternana: Stokic scores brace in comfortable victory
AC Milan Women recorded a much-needed victory on Saturday as they beat Ternana comfortably to go above them in the table.
Milan Women competed for almost the entire game against Roma last weekend, but ultimately fell apart in the second half in a 4-2 defeat. A brace from Christy Grimshaw saw Milan take the lead twice, but Cimò (x2), Giugliano and Greggi scored in what was a ruthless display from the current champions.
The words of Suzanne Bakker ahead of the match were as follows: “Ternana are a physically strong team who will challenge us in the duels. We’ll need to be aggressive and disciplined, staying true to our playing principles to secure the 3 points.”
The response on Saturday afternoon was an emphatic one, as Bakker’s side strolled to a 3-0 home win against a Ternana side that actually came into the game four places higher in the table.
Sara Stokic got the Rossonere off to the ideal start with a brace in the first half, Then, with 15 minutes left on the clock, Angelica Soffia netted a third for Milan to effectively put the game to bed.
It was just what the team needed after two defeats in the opening three league rounds. It sees Milan leapfrog their opponents on goal difference too, rising up to fourth in the table while waiting for the other games this weekend.
