“A great feeling” Ezri Konsa enjoyed scoring and keeping a clean sheet
Ezri Konsa scored one of Arsenal’s goals as the Gunners defeated Everton in the Premier League this afternoon, and the defender was delighted with his contribution to the victory.
The Englishman joined Arsenal from Aston Villa in the summer and has quickly become one of the club’s most reliable players. His defensive consistency has strengthened the squad, while his performances have demonstrated why he is regarded as one of the Premier League’s leading defenders.
Konsa attracted interest from top clubs after several impressive seasons at Aston Villa. He moved to the Emirates just weeks after winning the Europa League with Villa, arriving at Arsenal with a strong reputation and expectations that he could make an immediate impact.
Konsa enjoys a memorable evening
Arsenal have been pleased with Konsa’s performances since his arrival, and scoring while helping the team keep a clean sheet made the victory against Everton particularly special. The defender was delighted to contribute at both ends of the pitch as the Gunners secured all three points.
His goal also rewarded his persistence, as he revealed that he had been waiting for an opportunity to score from a set piece. Speaking after the match, Konsa explained how much the result and his personal contribution meant to him.
He told Premier League Productions:
“It is a great feeling to get the three points, it always is. A clean sheet and a goal; it is a fantastic day overall.
“I’ve been waiting to score my first goal for a while. I set to the set-piece coach before the game and he said he had been waiting for it as well. It was only right I got it today. A goal from a set piece has felt like it has been coming. Today was the day.
Defender praises Gabriel
Konsa also praised Gabriel for helping him settle into life at Arsenal. The pair have developed a strong understanding, and the Englishman appreciates the support he has received from his defensive partner since joining the club.
“I’m pleased for Gabriel. He is a top player and a top human. He has made my life easy since I joined the club and it is a pleasure to play along side him.”
The victory was therefore a satisfying occasion for Konsa, who contributed a goal, helped secure a clean sheet and recognised the teammate who has made his transition to Arsenal easier.
