A formal decision: Jesus settles Ronaldo's position in Portugal's squad
A new chapter or the end of the journey?
Portugal manager Jorge Jesus has named his official squad for the upcoming international break.
Portugal crashed out of the 2026 World Cup in the last 16, beaten 1-0 by Spain. That defeat ended Cristiano Ronaldo's run in a tournament he had already declared would be his last World Cup.
The Madeira rocket has yet to announce his international retirement, though, in the wake of Portugal's exit.
Jesus has handed Ronaldo the chance to write a fresh chapter with the national team, calling him up for the coming international break.
The full Portugal squad is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Diogo Costa, Rui Silva, Samuel Soares.
Defence: Joao Cancelo, Diogo Dalot, Ruben Dias, Tomas Araujo, Renato Veiga, Goncalo Inacio, Nuno Mendes, Nuno Tavares.
Midfield: Joao Palhinha, Ruben Neves, Vitinha, Joao Neves, Bernardo Silva, Bruno Fernandes.
Attack: Francisco Conceicao, Francisco Trincao, Rafael Leao, Pedro Neto, Joao Felix, Cristiano Ronaldo, Goncalo Ramos, Fabio Silva.
