The Frenchman, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2025, then hit the deck with PSG manager Luis Enrique immediately turning to his bench to make a replacement.
Spain’s World Cup-winner Ferran Torres, who joined PSG from Barcelona in the summer, came on for Dembele.
Dembele has been at the heart of PSG’s back-to-back Champions League triumphs, something which has been aided by Enrique’s sparing use of the Frenchman in Ligue 1. He has already been rested twice this campaign.
However, the 29-year-old will fear this is the latest of a plethora of injury setbacks that he has endured throughout his career, something which Barcelona know all too well, with fitness issues plaguing his six years at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona also endured an injury blow during the first half of the clash at the Parc des Princes, with Dani Olmo being forced off after having his ankle trodden on.
Desire Doue gave the hosts the lead heading into half-time with a brilliant strike in the 38th minute, putting at risk Barca’s 100 percent start to the new campaign.
