“Internal tension” at PSG over perceived unfair treatment of young talent
Dro Fernandez is getting unfair treatment, according to some unhappy fellow youngsters in the Barcelona dressing room.
Luis Enrique picked a rotated team to face Strasbourg on Saturday, not a bug surprise given they have a massive clash against his former team Barcelona tomorrow night.
It involved a lot of second string players getting their chance – but one selection in particular has caused a stir.
Dro Fernandez, who arrived from Barca in January, got a start in midfield. And his consistent selection is causing issues in the dressing room, according to L’Equipe.
PSG youngsters unhappy at team’s treatment of Dro
They claim that other young players in the squad feel that Dro is getting favourable treatment. The teenager has started twice in 7 Ligue 1 games, and has featured for some minutes in 5 of the 7.
The report from France names Senny Mayulu and Quentin Ndjantou as players who feel they’ve been unfairly leapfrogged by the new arrival. There are implications that Dro’s agent has undue sway at the club.
Luis Enrique doesn’t feel like the type to play favourites, or to easily be pressured into making selections he doesn’t want to.
In other news…
Nuno Mendes is going to miss tomorrow’s game (and a further few weeks) after picking up an unfortunate muscle injury against Strasbourg.
PSG fired three past Strasbourg late in the game to earn an important away win, although it did come at the cost of Mendes.
Luis Enrique changed his team heavily for the game, and it almost backfired. But in the end PSG get the points and a rest for some key starters.
