Fenerbahçe player Guendouzi attacked by furious Lyon fan at the players’ tunnel

Tempers flared on Wednesday after Olympique Lyon - Fenerbahçe (1-2). Mattéo Guendouzi was at the centre of the controversy and the Turks' midfielder was even attacked by an angry Lyon supporter.

Footage shows Guendouzi provoking the Lyon crowd after the tense play-off match. That enraged the home players and sparked a scuffle, with Fenerbahçe's players rushing over too.

Another clip from the stands shows a Lyon fan jumping down near the players' tunnel to attack Guendouzi. Ederson was among those who then punched the individual.

Before joining Fenerbahçe, Guendouzi played for Olympique Marseille, Lyon's biggest rivals. Lyon fans loudly booed him when he came on Wednesday, and he responded by raising his middle finger.

In the closing stages, Fenerbahçe held firm and sealed a 1-2 win over Lyon. That leaves the Champions League ticket in the hands of the Turkish top club, while Lyon will play in the Europa League this season.
