Video: Dembele turns the picture around in minutes: Paris survive with a stunning comeback before Barcelona
The clash at the Parc des Princes
Paris Saint-Germain turned a one-goal deficit into a 3-1 win at Strasbourg, scoring three times in the closing stages at La Meinau in the seventh round of the French league.
Luis Enrique's side arrived sixth in the table and desperate to climb, while Hugo Oliveira's Strasbourg were looking to steady themselves after two straight defeats.
Paris had the ball, but the hosts struck first. Giovanni Reyna latched on to a pass from Jessim Yassin in the 17th minute, drove into the penalty area and hit it with his left foot. The ball clipped Lucas Hernandez, changed direction and wrong-footed Matvey Safonov on its way into the net.
Enrique's men pushed for an equaliser before the break and controlled the ball without ever threatening, and Strasbourg went in a goal to the good at half-time.
Dembele leads the revival
Strasbourg kept coming after the restart. Safonov had to intervene more than once to keep the hosts from doubling their lead, prompting Luis Enrique to throw on his big names, Ousmane Dembele and Achraf Hakimi among them.
A priceless chance arrived in the 72nd minute. The referee pointed to the spot after a video review, but Dembele dragged his penalty past the post and into the side netting.
Paris refused to fold. Dembele whipped in a cross from the right in the 77th minute and Illia Zabarnyi, unmarked, finished from close range to level the match.
Five minutes later the comeback was complete. Hakimi led a counter-attack, Dembele took possession and carried it towards the edge of the box before drilling a low left-footed shot past Filip Jorgensen for Paris Saint-Germain's first lead of the night.
Strasbourg chased the game and got caught again. Desire Doue finished one last counter to seal a 3-1 win, with all three goals coming inside the final 13 minutes.
