Luis Enrique's team shows no mercy

Paris Saint-Germain tore Villarreal apart in a 6-0 rout, scoring four times inside 17 first-half minutes before adding two more after the break. Joao Neves and Fabian Ruiz ran the show, and young David Boly announced himself with his first Champions League goal.

Neves got things going in the ninth minute, pouncing on a loose ball inside the box after a corner.

Three minutes later, Paris punished an error by goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi. The ball broke to Magnes Akliouche, who teed up Desire Doue to fire into the net.

Senny Mayulu made it three in the 13th minute, following in after Neves's effort rebounded off the Villarreal defence.

Fabian Ruiz piled on the fourth four minutes later, seizing on a rebound inside the area after Achraf Hakimi had tried his luck.

Villarreal tried to pull one back but drew a blank before the interval. Their best moment came through Ayoze Perez in stoppage time, a shot Matvey Safonov saved. It was the hosts' first effort on target.

The second half began with Villarreal sending on Sergi Cardona for Nicolas Pepe, yet Paris kept coming. Ruiz grabbed his second and the visitors' fifth in the 50th minute, collecting a pass from Vitinha, slipping past Renato Veiga and firing through Gulacsi's legs.

Luis Enrique freshened things up, introducing Mika Godts and Ferran Torres on the hour, then Lucas Beraldo, Quentin Ndjantou and David Boly in the 74th minute.

Boly needed just four minutes to make his mark. In the 78th minute he latched onto a Neves pass, burst into the box and shot from a tight angle, the ball deflecting off Renato Veiga and nestling into the net.

Referee's book was busy, too. Santi Comesana, Santiago Mourino, Sergi Cardona, Alberto Moleiro and Quentin Ndjantou all went into it. Villarreal made their final change in the 79th minute, Pau Navarro replacing Alex Freeman, and the game drifted on in the same vein until the whistle confirmed a sweeping Parisian win.
