Tebas mocks the Higher Sports Council after it demanded an apology to Real Madrid
Is there an agreement with Mourinho?
Javier Tebas, the president of the Spanish league, has renewed his self-defence after the storm kicked up by his comparison between the communication methods of Real Madrid's television channel and the propaganda methods of Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi propaganda minister.
His words were aimed at Jose Manuel Rodriguez Uribes, the president of Spain's Higher Sports Council, who had told him to withdraw the remarks and apologise to Real Madrid.
In a new post on the X platform, Tebas insisted that his comparison covered propaganda methods and nothing else. It did not stretch to Nazi ideology or to Real Madrid's supporters.
To back that up, he rounded up press articles, editorials and statements from political figures who had reached for Goebbels to analyse or criticise communication methods.
Tebas then turned the knife: "What a coincidence that Mourinho and you should come out talking about an apology, isn't it? It must be a case of extraordinary telepathy."
