Raphinha extends Barça contract to 2030 while holding LaLiga’s top scoring tally
FC Barcelona have tied captain Raphinha to the club until 30 June 2030, replacing a deal that ran until 2028. The renewal settles the future of the team's leading scorer days before a LaLiga trip to Atlético Madrid.
FC Barcelona have renewed Raphinha’s contract until 30 June 2030. The deal was signed at 12.00pm CET in President Laporta’s office. The Brazilian, whose full name is Raphael Dias Belloli, then faced the media in the Commercial Office.
His previous contract was due to run until 2028. The club said the extension keeps its number 11 in the blaugrana shirt for at least three and a half more seasons.
Pride was the theme of the captain’s remarks at the ceremony. He returned to it again and again. He hopes to keep performing for many more years if his legs allow it. He also wants to win as many titles as he can in the Barça shirt before the new deal ends.
Barça secure their captain while he leads LaLiga’s scorers
The timing reflects his form. He has 19 goals this season, 15 in LaLiga and four in the Champions League. Four of them arrived in the Champions League. No player in LaLiga has scored more league goals.
Under Flick, he now plays in the center-forward role. He tries to adapt to whatever he is asked to do. He credits the quality of the squad for making the role easier.
His double in the 3-0 Champions League win over Aston Villa took him to 94 goals for Barça. That puts him level with Ronaldinho in fourth place among the club’s Brazilian scorers. The same game was his 190th official match for the club. It tied him with Adriano Correia for fourth among Brazilians on Barça’s all-time appearance list.
The two goals also lifted him to 23 Champions League goals for the club. He now sits level with Robert Lewandowski in Barça’s all-time ranking for the competition. The win gave Barça nine points from four games in the league phase.
The renewal comes with silverware already won and one goal still open
Since joining in July 2022, Raphinha has won three LaLiga titles, one Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cups. One trophy is still missing from his time at the club, Raphinha said at the signing.
The new contract gives him a longer window to chase it. It also removes any question over his future while his scoring drives the team’s results in two competitions.
The first test after the signing comes quickly. Barça travel to the Metropolitano to face Atlético Madrid on Sunday night in matchday 12. After that trip, Barça host Villarreal at Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday 22 November in LaLiga matchday 13.
