Another away contest awaits Real Madrid in La Liga as the men in white travel to Santander to take on Racing Club on matchday 11.

Los Blancos are fresh off an El Clasico win, which must be the highlight of the 5-match unbeaten streak Jose Mourinho’s men are on.

Fede Valverde ruled out; a blessing in disguise for Dumfries or Trent?

Real Madrid captain played 40 minutes in the El Clasico with an injury, and is now confirmed to be ruled out of tonight’s contests in order to focus on his recovery.

The Uruguayan’s omission means Trent Alexander-Arnold or Denzel Dumfries have a chance to make a case for themselves and stamp their authority in Fede’s absence.

This is set to be the only change to the El Clasico lineup so far, with Bernardo Silva, Arda Guler and Yan Diomande expected to keep their places in the starting XI.

Speaking of Diomande, the youngster has seemingly adapted well and rose to prominence in Vinicius’ absence, and tonight will offer him another opportunity to create a selection headache for Mourinho once the Brazilian returns.

Kylian Mbappe meanwhile, fresh off a brace against FC Barcelona and a closely fought Ballon d’Or race with Harry Kane, would look to add to his tally against a vulnerable Racing Club side.

The newly promoted team currently sit on 15th in the table, just a couple of points from relegation and have conceded 26 goals so far — most in La Liga. Racing, however, will be high on momentum on their side, having won their last two matches.

With Real Madrid being on a 5-match winning streak and Racing also securing consecutive victories, this match promises to be an interesting fixture, despite the stark difference in quality; that being said, Los Blancos should not be taking this match lightly.
