Xabi Alonso's Real Madrid are five points clear at the top of LaLiga
  • Valencia have suffered two 2-1 defeats in their last three matches

  • Last season's four Clasicos featured 22 goals in normal time

  • Both teams have scored in six of Real Betis' last seven LaLiga games

One of football's most iconic fixtures takes place in Spain on Sunday afternoon as Real Madrid and Barcelona do battle in the first Clasico of the season.

Real head into El Clasico with a two-point lead over the Catalans, and even at this early stage, the Bernabeu contest could have a significant bearing on the title race.

Joe Champion has correct-score picks for all 10 LaLiga matches.

Real Sociedad vs Sevilla (Friday, 8pm)

Struggling Real Sociedad have just one win to their name, and there are no guarantees they will beat Sevilla. The visitors lost 3-1 at home to Mallorca last week, but had previously beaten Rayo Vallecano and Barcelona.

Score prediction: Real Sociedad 0-1 Sevilla

Girona vs Real Oviedo (Saturday, 1pm)

LaLiga's bottom two face off in Saturday's opener, and this represents a good chance for Girona to bag three points. The hosts have claimed four of their six points in their last two at home.

Score prediction: Girona 1-0 Real Oviedo

Espanyol vs Elche (Saturday, 3.15pm)

Espanyol continue to exceed expectations, claiming a fourth win of the season at home to Real Oviedo last Friday, and they can make it five against Elche. The visitors are also in fine fettle, but only three of their 14 points have come on their travels.

Score prediction: Espanyol 2-1 Elche

Athletic Bilbao vs Getafe (Saturday, 5.30pm)

Athletic Bilbao eased to a Champions League win over Qarabag on Wednesday, and should double up when Getafe visit San Mames. The visitors are winless in five, but have found the net in three of their last four.

Score prediction: Athletic Bilbao 2-1 Getafe

Valencia vs Villarreal (Saturday, 8pm)

Villarreal are winless in four in all competitions, but they have faced a tough run of fixtures and can respond positively against Valencia. Los Che have won two home matches this term but were dismal in Monday's goalless draw with Alaves.

Score prediction: Valencia 1-2 Villarreal

Mallorca vs Levante (Sunday, 1pm)

Mallorca have won two of their last three LaLiga matches and can edge past Levante. The visitors' two victories have come against lowly Girona and Oviedo, and this looks a tougher test.

Score prediction: Mallorca 1-0 Levante

Real Madrid vs Barcelona (Sunday, 3.15pm)

The El Clasico spoils could be shared at the Bernabeu. Barcelona dominated their bitter rivals in four goal-filled meetings last season, but Real Madrid have the firepower to bite back, particularly given how regularly Barca's high line has been exposed this season.

Score prediction: Real Madrid 2-2 Barcelona

Osasuna vs Celta Vigo (Sunday, 5.30pm)

Osasuna have made an inconsistent start to the season, but they remain rock-solid at home, claiming 10 points from a possible 12 at El Sadar. Draw specialists Celta Vigo have played out seven 1-1 stalemates already, but could be on the end of a rare defeat.

Score prediction: Osasuna 2-1 Celta Vigo

Rayo Vallecano vs Alaves (Sunday, 8pm)

Rayo Vallecano have won back-to-back matches, although a stubborn Alaves team could put an end to their run. The Basque outfit have avoided defeat in five of their last seven fixtures.

Score prediction: Rayo Vallecano 0-0 Alaves

Real Betis vs Atletico Madrid (Monday, 8pm)

Atletico Madrid were humbled 4-0 by Arsenal on Tuesday, but have had two days longer to prepare for this fixture than Real Betis, who faced Genk in Belgium on Thursday. Atleti are unbeaten in eight in LaLiga, and can edge an entertaining clash.

Score prediction: Real Betis 1-2 Atletico Madrid
