"Open the history books": Barcelona seal their seventh win with the signature of "Brazil's magician"

A superb hat-trick

Barcelona banked a valuable win at Sevilla, running out 3-1 winners at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in the seventh round of La Liga. The result kept the Catalans top of the table and preserved their unbeaten record.

Hansi Flick's side arrived in high spirits, having taken maximum points from their opening six matches. Sevilla had other ideas. The hosts came flying out of the blocks in the first half, pressing Barcelona hard and stopping them from settling into their usual rhythm.

Youssef Fofana opened the scoring in the 18th minute, pouncing after Sevilla won the ball high up the pitch. The lead lasted just three minutes. Raphinha levelled, latching onto a superb pass from Andreas Christensen to send the sides in at 1-1.

Everything shifted after the break. Barcelona took control and carried a real threat, and Raphinha struck again in the 51st minute, finishing off a fine pass from Lamine Yamal to give his side the lead for the first time.

The Barcelona captain completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute. Yamal teed him up once more, and Raphinha cleverly dinked the ball over the Sevilla goalkeeper to seal a 3-1 win.

That treble took Raphinha to 12 goals for the season, the top of the La Liga scoring charts, while Yamal reached four assists in the competition. The pair keep churning out remarkable numbers for Barcelona this term.

Sevilla's press faded in the second half, and Barcelona tightened their grip. They enjoyed 77% possession while the hosts mustered just two shots. Job done, and the lead intact heading into the international break.
