Mendes has offered Balde to Roma: Juventus’s Cambiaso to replace him at Barcelona
The Italian winger is not unsellable for Juventus
With the January transfer window approaching and next summer also in mind, Barcelona are already looking for a signing to give them more options at full-back.
For two transfer windows, Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco have had to work to tie down Alejandro Balde and keep him at Barcelona. Balde has featured in just three matches this season and had to come on for Espart in the Clásico, which Barcelona lost to Real Madrid.
Balde could leave in January, forcing Barcelona to act. According to Catalan publication Sport, Juventus' Andrea Cambiaso is a prominent name on Deco's list.
Balde-Roma summit
Alejandro Balde wants to leave the Catalan club, even if only on loan. He wants more playing time and the chance to make his mark as early as January. According to Il Messaggero, Jorge Mendes has again offered the 2003-born full-back, whom he represents directly, to Roma in recent days.
With the door still open to Balde, Roma have been looking for a wide player to strengthen Gian Piero Gasperini's squad since the end of the summer transfer window.
Cambiaso is attracting interest
Juventus made a move for Baldé at the end of the summer transfer window, but Barcelona were asking for €40/50 million for him. Including Andrea Cambiaso in the valuations could change those talks.
Able to play on either flank, Cambiaso is struggling for form and wants to get back to his best. The attack-minded full-back could fit into Hansi Flick's rotation even if Baldé stays. According to Sport, another Barcelona player in the same position could leave: Jules Koundé, who is attracting interest from Bayern Munich.
Asking price: 30 million
The sticking point is the cost: Barcelona won't offer a discount on Balde, while Juventus, with Cambiaso under contract until 30 June 2029, won't accept less than €30 million for him.
In January, sums of that size rarely change hands. More imaginative, alternative deal structures remain not just possible but a priority for all the top clubs.
