“Just incredible!” Kylian Mbappe and Arda Güler delight the Bernabeu with miraculous wonder goals for Real Madrid
First Arda Güler, then Kylian Mbappe a few minutes later: the Bernabeu was treated to two stunning goals in quick succession during Real Madrid’s league match against Sevilla FC on Sunday evening.
In the 30th minute, Güler took centre stage. Former Leipzig player Yan Diomande laid the ball back from the left to the Turkish midfielder, who struck it first time from 16 metres. His left-footed shot flew in a beautiful arc over Sevilla goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos, who had no chance, and into the far corner.
"That unbelievably good left foot," DAZN commentator Jan Platte raved after Real Madrid's opener. Güler, who had set up two goals in the spectacular 4-3 win at AS Roma in the Champions League during the week, had scored his second goal of the season in all competitions. Add his five assists and the 21-year-old now has seven goal contributions.
Seven minutes later, Mbappe gave the Madrid crowd another highlight. Diomande started the move again: Jude Bellingham flicked the €125 million new signing's pass from the left on to Mbappe with a slight touch of his heel. The star striker took the ball into the penalty area with a "brutal movement", as DAZN pundit Max Nicu put it. He weaved past Sevilla defender Kike Salas with his next touch, then beat Vlachodimos with another spectacular dance step.
Commentator Platte shouted, "Incredible! Simply incredible!" "It's all happening too quickly for the visitors now," pundit Nicu said, praising the Frenchman's move. Mbappe had scored his tenth goal of the season in all competitions in his 11th appearance.
His 11th followed in the second half, and it was no ordinary finish either. Awarded a penalty after a foul on him, Mbappe casually chipped the ball down the middle with a delicate Panenka to make it 3-0 to Real (63rd minute).
