Jose Mourinho has found the perfect role for Endrick at Real Madrid
When Real Madrid won their fourth consecutive Champions League game on Wednesday night with a 3-2 triumph over AEK Athens, they weren't playing the best football, but with yet another comeback, they got the job done and were able to secure three points in a game that had quite a few flaws, but also quite a few really big positives.
It is worth looking into the latter more than the former. Everyone is going to be talking about what Real Madrid did not do right, because that is part and parcel of the press, and that also includes this website. However, there is some appreciation to be shown for some of Real Madrid's players who play on Wednesday night and were able to prove themselves in one way or another.
One of those players was Endrick, who had a brilliant cameo off the bench as Jose Mourinho turned to him to provide some chaos and energy to the attack. Endrick did not disappoint, as he went into the game and was able to be a very, very big source of energy and creativity for Real Madrid. In fact, it just seems like Mourinho has found the perfect role for Endrick, and he must start using it more often.
Endrick would be the perfect ball of energy to bring on off the bench
Kind of like how Mourinho primarily uses Carlos Espí as his first option off the bench to have an impact on the game as a striker, Endrick should probably be one of the first options to play on the right wing. If Real Madrid need a source of creativity or goals, they should turn to Endrick just as quickly as they turn to Espi, because of the level of talent the Brazilian can provide. Obviously, he would rather start these sorts of games than come off the bench, but you would rather play 15 minutes than none at all. That is exactly how he can make his value be felt.
In the limited appearances that Endrick has made this season, his two best performances have come in the Champions League as a substitute. He had a brilliant game against Roma off the bench and then proceeded to have another great cameo against AEK. He was not able to score a goal, but he was very close to assisting one with the brilliant pass he provided to Kylian Mbappé late in the second half.
If Real Madrid need some moments of inspiration in the attack, Endrick can definitely use this to his advantage and make his value be felt at the club. Obviously, Jose Mourinho would have to trust him more often for this to become a regular recurrence, but the proof is there.
The one start that he had earlier this season wasn't all that good, but now he's coming off the bench and playing well again. It just makes sense to give this an extended try and see if there are many more games that the Brazilian can influence all by himself.
