Deco locks down the midfield: Marc Bernal signs long-term Barcelona renewal
An agreement in principle has been reached between Barcelona and Marc Bernal on a long-term contract to 30 June 2031. Now, Barcelona's front office has fulfilled this promise. The new salary scheme will raise his fixed salary significantly and moves away from the heavily add-on-based pay he currently receives. Ever-evolving midfield with absolute trust
Timings on this renewal are highly strategic. With Rodri freshly arriving in Barcelona, it is natural for Bernal's circle to worry about the number of minutes he would get.
Those concerns are now completely dispelled thanks to Deco's talks with the player this week, when he assured that Bernal is and will continue to be an integral part of coach Hansi Flick's masterplan.
The club made it clear that Bernal would continue to develop by playing alongside an experienced veteran in his position; and, despite enormous interest from clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League, he remains committed to Barcelona. Once it is signed next week, this contract will keep Bernal at Barcelona for the next five years.
