Breaking: Rodri out of Barcelona's line-up for Paris clash, and a surprise from Enrique

Raphinha leads Barça's attack: Torres on the Paris bench

The doubts surrounding Spain's Rodri proved well founded. Hansi Flick left the Barcelona midfielder out of his squad for tonight's eagerly awaited clash with Paris Saint-Germain, the standout fixture of the third round of the Champions League league phase, while Luis Enrique sprang a surprise of his own in the Parisian line-up.

Reports hours earlier had claimed Rodri is suffering from physical fatigue, with Flick preferring to rest the World Cup winner on the substitutes' bench.

Catalan newspaper "Sport" reported that Rodri's place on the bench owes nothing to a serious injury. The German coach simply wants the player fresh for Sunday's Clasico in La Liga.

In midfield, Flick turns to Marc Bernal to cover for Rodri, with the Catalans also without Eric Garcia and Jules Kounde.

Young Egyptian Hamza Abdelkarim takes a place on Barca's bench for tonight's game.

Barcelona's line-up was as follows:

Goalkeeper: Joan Garcia.

Defence: Xavi Espart, Pau Cubarsi, Gerard Martin, Joao Cancelo.

Midfield: Marc Bernal, Pedri, Dani Olmo.

Attack: Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Anthony Gordon.

Enrique, meanwhile, defied expectations by picking Lucas Hernandez at left-back, where he must snuff out the threat of Lamine Yamal. Lucas Beraldo and Zaire-Emery both miss out.

PSG go into tonight's game without their star Nuno Mendes, a real headache for the Spanish coach.

Former Barcelona man Ferran Torres also starts on the bench for the visitors.

Defence: Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Willian Pacho, Hernandez.

Midfield: Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha, Joao Neves.
