Barcelona may agree: Paris prepares 80 million to sign Fermin Lopez
Will the deal go through?
Barcelona face a difficult decision over one of their brightest young talents. Europe's biggest clubs are circling, and the financial pressures bearing down on the Catalans are forcing them to weigh up the tempting offers.
According to the English website "Caught Offside", Paris Saint-Germain are preparing a "serious offer" worth 80 million euros for Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez. Chelsea, meanwhile, are mulling a huge bid of their own.
Barcelona have no wish to part with the Spain international. Their finances, though, could force a rethink should the right offer land, especially as cashing in on a prized asset would hand them resources to tackle their ongoing crises.
Chelsea have previously tried to sign Fermin
This is not the first time Chelsea have gone after Fermin Lopez. The English club tabled a big offer in the summer of 2025, only for the player to reject the idea of leaving Barcelona.
According to the report, Chelsea made clear at the time they would return for him if his circumstances changed, which could hand the Londoners a fresh opening to enter the race.
Paris Saint-Germain, though, look clearer in their intentions right now. They are ready to go up to 80 million euros, according to information the website gleaned from a source familiar with the players' agents market.
Fierce competition within Barcelona
Fermin's situation at the Camp Nou could prove decisive for his future. He is battling fierce competition for a regular spot in Hansi Flick's side.
For all Barcelona's determination to keep him, the player's own view on leaving remains murky. He turned down Chelsea once already and was keen to stay at the club where he made his name.
Arsenal and Manchester United have also sounded out his situation in recent months, the report added. But Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain look the most serious of the lot at present.
