Anthony Gordon targets football’s “Top Bracket” after Barcelona move, inspired by Harry Kane’s rise
Anthony Gordon hopes his summer move to Barcelona can put him in the 'top bracket' of footballers.
Gordon signed for the Spanish champions from Newcastle United in the summer and has had an impressive start in LaLiga. The 25-year-old has two goals and four assists in nine league appearances and has formed part of a freescoring attack under Hansi Flick.
Gordon believes his move to Barcelona can see him enter the conversation around the best wingers in the game.
He pointed to the example of Harry Kane, who was last month named winner of the Ballon d'Or. Gordon believes Kane's move to Bayern Munich has helped his profile, with the England captain now competing regularly on the biggest stage for major trophies.
The England international said competing for the biggest trophies was the driving factor behind his summer switch to Spain, and believes accolades will arrive if he performs for Barcelona on a consistent basis.

"It's the same with H [Harry Kane]. He was at Spurs for a long time and he had an unbelievable Premier League career. But because Spurs didn't win any trophies, it maybe didn't put him in that top, top bracket that he's in now," Gordon said to TNT Sports.
"I think his move to Bayern Munich has put him on another level because he's been able to add trophies. He gets to show his ability on the highest, highest stages, in the later rounds of the Champions League.
"That's what these clubs do and that's why I've always dreamt of playing for this club, because everybody watches Barcelona. We get to fight on every front for the biggest trophies. When you perform in the biggest games, that's when the accolades and everything you want comes true."
