After Barcelona's fall: four clubs defying defeat in Europe's major leagues

The title races across Europe are starting to take shape, yet only four teams still carry an unbeaten record in their major leagues.

Lazio, Roma, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund stand alone as the clubs yet to taste defeat.

Barcelona had made a perfect start, winning every league game, until Real Madrid ended the run in El Clasico.

That defeat wiped out the last unbeaten side in Spain. The race now narrows to two clubs from Germany and two from Italy, according to tribuna.

Bayern Munich's place on the list hardly raises eyebrows. The other three tell very different stories, and none stands out quite like Lazio.

Gennaro Gattuso's side have become one of the stories of the 2026-2027 season.

Ten games in, Lazio boast nine wins and a draw. Those 28 points leave them alone at the summit of Serie A, three clear of Inter after the Nerazzurri lost the Derby della Madonnina to Milan 3-1.

Sitting above Inter, Roma, Como and Milan, Lazio have handed their fans plenty of reason to dream.

Roma, meanwhile, are flying under Gian Piero Gasperini. Seven wins and three draws from their first ten league games keep them firmly in the hunt. That form carries extra weight given their pursuit of a first Scudetto since 2001.

Germany: Bayern Munich and Dortmund

Over in Germany, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are both still standing. Each has five wins and three draws from the opening eight rounds, leaving them level on 18 points.

Nobody will be shocked to see Bayern there, given their domestic dominance. Dortmund, though, will be desperate to turn a bright start into a genuine title push.

Four clubs, two leagues, one question. How long can they keep the losses at bay?
