Anthony Gordon has spoken about his move to FC Barcelona, describing how Hansi Flick’s personal call made the prospect of joining the club feel real. Gordon arrived from Newcastle United as Barcelona’s first signing of the new era, with Marca reporting that the club paid €70 million for the forward.
In his first public comments about the transfer, Gordon said he initially found it difficult to believe that Barcelona wanted him. He said his own early performances have been positive but that he believes he can offer more. Marca described his opening matches for Barcelona in terms of explosiveness, directness, work rate and generosity from the wing.
Gordon has also begun learning Catalan, revealing that he has attended three classes and is learning expressions one phrase at a time. He named Pedri as the teammate who has impressed him most, highlighting the midfielder’s technical quality and the ease with which he plays.
For Gordon, the immediate focus is continuing that adaptation within Flick’s system while helping Barcelona build on its strong start to the season.
