'PSV must be wary: interest in Ruben van Bommel confirmed'
Ruben van Bommel could see his rapid development at PSV rewarded with a possible winter move. According to Mana Sport Roma, interest from AS Roma, after earlier reporting by Gazzetta dello Sport, has now been confirmed.
Last season, Van Bommel missed a large chunk of the campaign with a serious knee injury. This term, though, he has become one of PSV's most influential players and has already made a successful debut for the Netherlands.
Roma, meanwhile, have been in the market for a new left winger for some time. The Giallorossi wanted Mason Greenwood, Crysencio Summerville and Endrick last summer, but none of those moves came off. The Serie A leaders now want to strengthen again in the winter window.
Endrick was Roma's final target of the last summer transfer window. His temporary move to the Stadio Olimpico looked only a matter of time, but Real Madrid coach José Mourinho blocked the departure and promised him playing time at the Bernabéu.
Now, though, Endrick is barely playing and Real would again be willing to let him leave, either on loan or permanently. According to reports in Italy, Roma want to try again, but if the Brazilian proves out of reach, Van Bommel will move firmly into the frame.
The 22-year-old from Limburg is under contract until mid-2030, and on the face of it PSV seem unlikely to cooperate with a transfer. Van Bommel has a market value of €18 million, although the asking price will presumably be far higher.
Luiz Henrique of Zenit St. Petersburg and Giorgi Kvernadze of Frosinone are also being linked with a move to Roma alongside Endrick and Van Bommel, although they now appear to be viewed as options C and D.
