Probable Ajax line-up: Míchel rings the changes in Groningen
Ajax face FC Groningen three days after their painful 2-1 defeat to Hajduk Split. Coach Míchel Sánchez is expected to make several changes, Voetbalzone predicts. The match in the far north kicks off on Sunday at 16:45, with live coverage on ESPN 2.
Marc ter Stegen returns in goal for Ajax. Lucas Rosa returns at right-back, allowing Thilo Kehrer to move into central defence. Youri Baas partners him, with Aaron Bouwman dropping to the bench. Owen Wijndal replaces Joffre Torrents at left-back.
At the base of midfield, Sofyan Amrabat makes way for Jorthy Mokio. Davy Klaassen and Julian Brandt keep their starting places in Groningen, while Yves Bissouma could come off the bench.
Viktor Tsygankov starts again on the right wing, with Simon Adingra not yet fully match-fit. Tolu Arokodare leads the line, while Oscar Gloukh gets the nod over Abdellah Ouazane on the left flank this time.
The Spanish coach cannot call on Kasper Dolberg or Steven Berghuis in attack on Sunday. Both are unavailable through injury.
Ajax have endured a difficult week, dropping points against NEC (1-1) before losing in the Conference League. FC Groningen, by contrast, boosted their confidence with an emphatic 1-5 win over Excelsior.
Predicted Ajax line-up: Ter Stegen; Rosa, Kehrer, Baas, Wijndal; Mokio, Klaassen, Brandt; Gloukh, Tolu, Tysgankov.
