Kenneth Perez has a very clear opinion on Lutsharel Geertruida’s celebration of a disallowed goal in PSV v Feyenoord
For a moment, Lutsharel Geertruida, of all people, looked set to be the match-winner in PSV v Feyenoord (1-1), only for his goal to be ruled out for offside. The moment came up in the post-match analysis on ESPN.
"He finished that brilliantly," said Karim El Ahmadi. "He came into midfield more and more often in the second half, and this was a fantastic goal. A truly fantastic left-footed finish."
Milan van Dongen then said he had not got the impression that Geertruida intended to keep his celebration particularly subdued. "Why would he?" Perez replied immediately.
Nor could the pundit understand the hatred Feyenoord supporters directed at Geertruida. "Feyenoord did not have the money to bring Geertruida in. So you have to look elsewhere."
"PSV did have the money, and were willing to spend it. Well, if you want to play football, that is your choice," he said, backing Geertruida's decision.
Geertruida had already played a starring role in the big match in Eindhoven, providing a sublime assist for Guus Til's opening goal.
After the match, Geertruida also spoke to the cameras. A friendly exchange with Jeremiah St. Juste suddenly got out of hand.
