Wilder delivers injury update on Sheffield United duo ahead of Portsmouth clash
Chris Wilder has confirmed Kalvin Phillips will be available for Sheffield United’s trip to Portsmouth, but Femi Seriki remains sidelined.
Phillips sat out Saturday’s win over Lincoln City after feeling tightness in his adductor, although Wilder said the Manchester City loanee could have played if required.
The midfielder is now expected to travel for Wednesday night’s clash at Fratton Park.
There was less positive news on Seriki, who will miss both the Portsmouth game and Saturday’s meeting with Bristol City as he continues to build up his fitness.
“He won’t be available for Wednesday night and Saturday,” Wilder said.
“We need to build him up.”
The Blades boss stressed that Seriki cannot be rushed back after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
“They can’t go straight back in,” he said.
“It’s a difficult one as well with no reserve games as well. It’s the odd Under-21 game.
“He needs to build himself back up to speed.
“He’s missed a lot of football. It’s not been a short injury, and for him to stay healthy and fit for hopefully the next three-quarters of the season or however long it is.”
