West Ham vs. Southampton head-to-head: Results in the last 5 meetings
West Ham United have a great record against Southampton. They have won three and drawn just two of their last five games against the Saints. This included a 4-1 win over the South Coast side in the EFL Cup earlier this season.
The Hammers and the Saints were both once established Premier League clubs. However, both are now battling to make it out of the Championship. The last time they met in English football's second tier was in the 2011/12 campaign. Both sides were promoted that season, and the same could happen next year.

Bowen has been the star for the Hammers in recent matches with Southampton. He has scored three in the last three games between the two sides. West Ham keeping him for this Championship season has been regarded as a 'cheat code' by many supporters.
Ajala scored a brace as a young Hammers side defeated the Saints in the EFL Cup earlier this campaign. However, he has only been used as a substitute in one Championship game this season. That was in West Ham's emphatic 6-0 win over Wrexham. Therefore, it is unlikely that he will feature against Southampton this weekend.
Castellanos got the Hammers' other goal in that cup victory. The Argentine also scored a brace against the Saints' bitter rivals, Portsmouth, in the previous round. However, he has scored just one Championship goal this campaign. Many fans thought he would move on from the Hammers after the club's relegation. He has been surprisingly poor so far in the second division so far.
Aguerd also got a winning goal for West Ham in one of the last five games. He went on to have a season on loan at Real Sociedad before making a permanent switch to Marseille. Many West Ham fans will feel that he was a player that the club should have kept hold of.
One player that West Ham did not have much of a choice about letting go of was Rice. He was sold to Arsenal for £105 million, which was a fee the club could not turn down. Rice scored in a draw with the Saints. Now he is a Premier League winner with the Gunners.
