There was a time when Jadon Sancho appeared to have the world at his feet. He was regarded as one of the brightest young talents when he came through at Borussia Dortmund. However, he is now a free agent and is even being linked with West Ham United.

TalkSPORT has reported that "West Ham have been presented with the chance to sign Manchester United reject Jadon Sancho... The former England international has been offered a deal with Spanish side Getafe, but talkSPORT has been told that contract was worth less than £10,000-a-week.

"Advisers acting on behalf of the 26-year-old have contacted various English clubs including the Hammers in the search for alternative options."

Sancho cost United £73 million and was on a basic salary of £250,000 a week, which could rise to over £300,000 with bonuses. However, like many players who have headed to Old Trafford recently, their careers went downhill fast.

The forward scored just 12 goals with six assists in 83 games for United. He returned to Dortmund on loan and helped them reach the Champions League final. Sancho was then on loan at Chelsea and helped them win the Europa Conference League, and even scored in the final against Real Betis. However, overall his spell at Stamford Bridge was underwhelming, and the Blues paid a £5 million penalty not to take up their option to sign him permanently.

Jadon Sancho's career had gone downhill rapidly

Last season, Sancho was loaned to Aston Villa, where he also had success on the continent, winning the Europa League. However, his record for Villa was poor, with just one goal and three assists in 39 matches. They did not sign him permanently, and he left United too when his contract expired.

The list of clubs Sancho has been linked with since becoming a free agent has been extensive. This has included another return to Dortmund and links with big clubs, including AS Roma and Atlético Madrid. Interest from the Premier League, including Brentford, was also reported.

There was even talk of him going to the Middle East with Arabian Falcons or Al-Rayyan. However, at Sancho's age, it is way too early for him to be going there. There was even a rumour that the Brazilian side Palmeiras wanted him.

Moving to West Ham in the Championship could be a good place for Sancho to rebuild his reputation. He is from London, so it would be fitting for him to be at a club in the capital. Sancho is predominantly a left-winger, who would provide competition for Manor Solomon. However, many fans would want to see Edvin Austbo start on the left side of attack. Sancho can also play on the right, so he could be an option if Jarrod Bowen were unavailable.

However, there would be questions as to what Sancho's attitude would be like at West Ham. He has played for some of the biggest clubs in the world and been on astronomical money. It would be humbling for him to play in the Championship. However, this could be what he needs if he is to get the best out of the remainder of his career.
