Swansea City handed several fitness boosts ahead of Birmingham bout
Swansea City boss Vitor Matos has confirmed Stephen Welsh avoided serious injury after limping off against Portsmouth, while Jisung Eom and Moussa Yeo are both available to face Birmingham City.
Welsh was forced off in the first half at Fratton Park following a heavy challenge, but scans have shown no significant damage.
“It’s good news,” Matos said.
“The scan is clear so it’s really just a bad knock there. There’s nothing major, but we will still assess him to see if he’s available for Saturday.
“It’s not a bad injury, it’s just a knock that’s really painful.”
There was better news on Eom, who has recovered from two knocks picked up against Blackburn.
“Eom is back available now,” Matos said.
“He had two ugly knocks on his legs against Blackburn and that made the situation really painful for him.
“Today he trained much better and will be available on Saturday.”
Yeo is also back in contention.
“Moussa is back and trained as normal as well,” Matos added.
“He’s back among the squad and available again.”
Melker Widell will miss the game, however, after suffering a grade one hamstring strain.
“We decided to make a decision after he became aware of something around his hamstring, but he’s a grade one strain, so it’s nothing major,” Matos said.
“Melker won’t be available for this game but will be back straight after the international break.”
