Kellen Fisher could return to the Norwich City squad for Saturday’s Championship clash with Portsmouth after returning to training, while Philippe Clement has also confirmed several players will feature for the Under-21s as they continue to build fitness.

Fisher has been dealing with a back problem after returning from international duty but took part in a light session on Friday.

“Kellen trained today,” Clement said.

“Of course, it was a very, very soft session. It was light, but he felt better again.

“So, he can be in contention for the squad.”

Clement also confirmed Ante Crnac, Mirko Topic and Bruno Alves will all play for the Under-21s as part of their efforts to regain match sharpness.

“Ante will play this evening to get minutes, to get rhythm,” he said.

“I think it’s important for him to get up to speed.

“Mirko and Bruno will play the game this evening. It’s against a good opponent here in a home game, so I think a good situation for them to step up again.”

Crnac is still working his way back after a lengthy absence and Clement admitted managing the minutes of players returning from injury remains difficult.

“It’s a difficult decision to make, because, okay, you have friendly games, but it’s a different rhythm of the game,” he said.

“You have training sessions, but not too many. It’s never at the intensity of a Championship game and you need to bring them back.

“He clearly needs also more rhythm, he needs more game time, but it’s a normal thing after being 10, 11 months out.”

Vladan Kovacevic, meanwhile, remains unavailable as he continues to recover from concussion, while Kenny McLean is not ready to return.
