Mowbray gives injury latest on four Blackburn Rovers players – with midfielder set for long spell out
Blackburn Rovers are waiting to discover the extent of Ryoya Morishita’s ankle injury, with the attacker set to see a specialist on Friday.
The Japan international was forced off during the defeat at West Brom and Tony Mowbray admits he does not yet know how long he will be unavailable.
“I don’t have a lot of news,” Mowbray said.
“He has a meeting scheduled with the consultant tomorrow. We are waiting for a specialist. I’ll know more at tea time tomorrow night.
“I would have to say it is pretty unlikely he will be ready for this weekend. Maybe they say it’s nothing specific and he’ll be okay but I am not anticipating that.
“I’ll hopefully know more soon rather than just guessing but he hasn’t trained this week.”
Blackburn will be without Adam Forshaw for a significant period, meanwhile, with the midfielder due to undergo hip surgery at the start of November.
“November 2nd, I think, so it’s coming up, it’ll be a considerable amount of time,” Mowbray said.
“Again, I don’t want to guess on a timescale, but for the foreseeable future, Adam won’t be around the team.
“We wish him well with his recovery and hopefully we’ll see him before the end of the season.”
There was more positive news on Yuri Ribeiro and Yuki Ohashi, who have both returned to parts of training.
“They’re both pretty close,” Mowbray said.
“I’m not sure he’ll be quite ready this weekend, but I do think maybe Swansea they could be around on the bench, which is nine days away.”
