More QPR injury blows revealed following Mbengue confirmation
QPR will be without Nicolas Madsen, Rumarn Burrell and Tariq Lamptey until after the November international break, while Ilias Chair has also been ruled out of Saturday’s clash with Swansea City.
Madsen’s absence is a particular blow for Rangers, with the midfielder having picked up an issue at the end of the win over Derby before being unable to feature against Birmingham.
“Nico felt something at the end of the game against Derby,” boss Julien Stephan told West London Sport.
“He did a warm-up to know if he would be available for the second part of the Birmingham game and it didn’t feel very good.
“The medical staff scanned him and the scan showed that he needed to rest – between three and four weeks, probably until the international break.
“It’s a shame because we know he’s an important player for us. But now we have to think about the other options we have.”
Burrell has already been sidelined for around a month, while Lamptey remains unavailable with an ankle problem.
QPR have also confirmed that Amadou Mbengue is set to miss the rest of the season after suffering an ACL injury.
There was better news on Richard Kone, who has been given the all-clear after an injury scare in the defeat at Birmingham.
Karamoko Dembele could also return to the squad this weekend after making his comeback for QPR’s development side following a long-term knee injury.
