‘I knew this was the place I wanted to be’ – Alexander on being named new Preston boss

Preston North End have appointed Graham Alexander as their new manager, 14 years after he ended his playing career at Deepdale.

Alexander returns to the club alongside long-term assistant Chris Lucketti, another former Preston player, replacing former boss Paul Heckingbottom.

The 54-year-old previously enjoyed a lengthy spell with Preston as a player before hanging up his boots in 2012 and has since built up extensive managerial experience, joining the club from Bradford City.

“It’s a special feeling to be named manager of this football club,” Alexander said.

“After speaking to Preston, I knew this was the place I wanted to be. I had an amazing time here as a player and it’s great to be back.

“At previous clubs, we’ve always improved league positions and created a team that people can appreciate and attach themselves to.

“I want to win, I want to be successful, and a big part of that is having ambitions.”
