Hellberg hopeful of Middlesbrough boost for Charlton clash
Middlesbrough boss Kim Hellberg has confirmed David Strelec could return to the squad for this weekend’s clash with Charlton Athletic.
The striker has returned to full training after his latest injury setback and is now in contention to feature at the Riverside.
“David trained with us this week, back in full training as we expected, so maybe he can be involved this weekend,” Hellberg said.
“Other than that, it’s the same as last week.”
Hellberg also reiterated how highly he rates Strelec and believes the forward can still play a major role this season if he is able to stay fit.
“I’ve told you before how much I think of David and how good I think David is,” he said.
“I think David is a top, top player that has been a little bit unlucky with some injuries and bad timings, which is something that all footballers have to cope with.
“The key is what you do with that, how you come back from it, and what you do in training. That is what will determine how successful you can be.
“I think David has top, top qualities, and we will need them
“A lot of things will be up to David – how he can train, how he can work, how he can stay fit.
“I watched him this week, and he’s been very, very good.
“He’s a top, top player that is good at linking, and he’s good in the box.
“So, I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do through the season now, if he can hopefully stay fit for a longer time. We will see.”
