Brian Barry-Murphy has confirmed Dylan Lawlor will undergo a scan after suffering a hamstring injury in Cardiff City’s 5-1 win over Watford.

Lawlor was forced off midway through the first half and replaced by Will Fish, with Barry-Murphy now waiting to discover the extent of the problem.

“Dylan is going to go for a scan tomorrow, so we’ll find out the extent of the injury then,” he said.

“We’ll just see how he is, and then make an assessment from there.”

Fish impressed after coming on despite being behind Lawlor in terms of training load.

“Will is a little bit behind Dylan in terms of how much training he’s done, so I wasn’t sure getting him on early was the best idea,” Barry-Murphy said.

“But he had a great impact on the game and showed his outstanding qualities.”

There were also updates on Rubin Colwill and Yousef Salech, who both trained but were not ready to feature.

“Rubin and Yousef trained well this morning, but not close for tonight,” he said.

“We’ll have to see how they are on Thursday with a view to Saturday.”

Barry-Murphy was delighted with Cardiff’s response after a disappointing loss to Blackburn.

“We’re very pleased,” he said.

“It was a difficult weekend for us; because there’s such a long build-up during the international break, we wanted to play well and win on Saturday but it wasn’t to be.

“To bounce back in the fashion that we did tonight was hugely satisfying.”
