Blackburn Rovers handed triple boost for Swansea City clash
Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray has confirmed Kristi Montgomery, Yuri Ribeiro and Yuki Ohashi are all available for Saturday’s trip to Swansea City, but Mathias Jorgensen is facing another spell on the sidelines.
Ribeiro has been out for a month, while Ohashi has spent around two months sidelined with a hamstring injury.
“It’s again only positive,” Mowbray said.
“A lot of games coming up, lots of selection issues. Sitting at the moment with one fit striker is not ideal with so many games; it’s a three-game week coming up.
“So it’s great to have him (Ohashi) available, even if it’s 15 minutes or 20 minutes, 30 minutes.”
There was less positive news on Jorgensen, who is expected to be out for around three weeks after suffering a quad problem.
“I think as well as dealing with the injury, we need to deal with the psychological side of it,” Mowbray said.
“I’ve given him a few days to see his family and recover because it’s been a pretty tough journey that he’s had.
“Then to break down when he was on the cusp of getting back to full fitness is tough for him.
“Hopefully it’s only another three weeks or something like that, and he’ll be back on the grass again but it’s just tough.
“I think sometimes it feels as if you’re there, you’re ready to start games and then break down. So we will try and look after him and make sure he’s in the right frame of mind.”
Ryoya Morishita is also expected to be out for another two or three weeks, with a potential return after the international break.
“I think another two or three weeks and he’ll be back on the grass,” Mowbray said.
“At this moment, it’s not an issue for me. I think Fevrier can come and bring something; they’re different footballers.
“You’d probably prefer to have the energy that Mori has but Fevrier has wonderful feet around the box.
“If he can get half a yard, I think he can score a goal for us.”
