Barry-Murphy shares updates on more Cardiff City injury worries after loss to Wolves
Cardiff City boss Brian Barry-Murphy has revealed fresh injury concerns over Will Fish, Perry Ng and Alex Robertson as the club’s defensive problems continue to mount.
The Bluebirds were already without Dylan Lawlor, Callum Chambers, Krystian Bielik and the suspended Gabriel Osho for the 3-0 defeat at Wolves.
“We spoke earlier in the season when four of our centre backs were out injured, and I incorrectly presumed that will never happen again – but it has,” Barry-Murphy said.
“I can’t express how grateful I am because I asked Ollie Tanner to play left back and he gave it everything; same for Joel at right back.
“Perry went to play centre back, but he’s been struggling. They’re giving it everything, so that’s why I can’t be too critical.”
Cardiff’s problems worsened when Fish was forced off after feeling discomfort in his hamstring.
“Will Fish has a sore hamstring,” Barry-Murphy said.
“It was sore at half-time, but we had so little cover we left him on the pitch because we wanted to get back in the game.
“But the longer it goes on with a hamstring, the greater the risk – like with Dylan Lawlor – so we had to get him off.”
Robertson has also picked up an Achilles problem, while Barry-Murphy was unable to confirm whether Bielik will be fit to face West Ham on Wednesday despite returning to training.
