Brighton are back in European competition for first time since 2023-24 season
Tromso got past CFR Cluj in previous round, winning 7-1 on aggregate
Recommended bet: Brighton to win, both teams to score and over 2.5 total goals
Brighton are expected to flex their Premier League muscles and see off Norwegian side Tromso in the play-off round of the UEFA Conference League — but the first leg away still looks a tricky assignment.
The Seagulls have had a fine pre-season, winning all four of their summer friendlies, but now the competitive action starts for Fabian Hurzeler's side.
Team news
Tromso goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard is nursing an injury and may have to be replaced by Ole Kristian Lauvli.
Summer recruit Leon Hien is expected to start as part of a back three for the hosts, who have lost Jens Hjerto-Dahl this summer to Hull City.
Brighton have doubts over the participation of Carlos Baleba, Stefanos Tzimas and Kaoru Mitoma, who are all yet to reach full fitness.
Yankuba Minteh is definitely ruled out for the Seagulls, but Pascal Struijk could feature after recently recovering from injury.
Summer signing Luka Vuskovic should start in defence and one of Georginio Rutter or Charalampos Kostoulas is likely to get the nod up front, replacing Danny Welbeck as the focal point after he left for Chelsea this summer.

Prediction
Brighton should have enough quality to eventually qualify for the main league phase of the Conference League, but with Tromso in the thick of their domestic season and having impressed when hammering Cluj in the previous round of this competition over two legs, this is not an easy task for the Seagulls.
Tromso were unable to progress in the Europa League earlier in the summer, losing to Czech side Hradlec Kralove in the second qualifying round, but they are usually tough to beat at home and will pose a significant test at this very early stage in Brighton's season.
Hurzeler's men have looked good in recent friendlies, beating Wycombe, Strasbourg, Roma and Bologna, and they are backed to edge this first leg, possibly after surviving a few scares at the Romssa Arena first.
