The jaw-dropping moment unfolded from a cleverly designed Chelsea corner routine. Jordan Henderson stepped up to deliver a perfectly flighted cross, opting to bypass the crowded penalty box and target the edge of the area.

Striking it flush on the full, he unleashed a thunderous strike from 15 yards out that bypassed the entire Everton defense and beat the goalkeeper, only to crash against the woodwork.

It was a matter of inches from nestling into the top corner, a goal that surely would have stood alongside the Puskás Award contenders for sheer execution and brilliance.
