Porro back for Spurs but De Zerbi raises doubts over duo’s involvement against Chelsea
Pedro Porro is back available for Tottenham, but Roberto De Zerbi has raised doubts over the fitness of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski for the clash with Chelsea.
Porro has not played since before the last international break but is in line to feature against Spurs’ rivals.
“Pedro is back, Robertson is available, Marmoush is good, Solanke is good,” De Zerbi said.
However, De Zerbi confirmed that Lucas Bergvall, Savio and Destiny Udogie remain sidelined this weekend.
Maddison, meanwhile, missed the first three days of training this week and De Zerbi is unsure whether he will be ready.
“In the first three days Maddison didn’t work with us, so I don’t know if he’s ready for tomorrow,” he said.
“We can play with Mathys Tel or Marmoush inside or Gallagher, we have more solutions considering Pedro Porro can play.”
Kulusevski is also not yet fully clear, having too not fully trained after returning to action from around a year-and-a-half out on Monday night against Coventry.
“Kulusevski worked well but in the first day he stayed individually,” De Zerbi said.
The Spurs boss stressed he does not want to take unnecessary risks with players given the number of injuries across football.
“Like I said many times, I don’t want to take risks because if you analyse this period of football, you can see many injuries,” he said.
“Not for Tottenham, for everyone. If I can, I don’t want to take risks to lose players for many games.”
