Laporta attacks Real Madrid: they want to destroy everything, and Tebas will thwart them
A fiery message before the Clasico
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has launched a fierce attack on Real Madrid, accusing them of trying to destroy everything, including the Liga and the referees' technical committee.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo report that Laporta trusts Liga president Javier Tebas to stand up to Real Madrid's attacks.
"I want to talk about what concerns us, and our coach has already spoken about it, which is our current match against Real Betis," the Barcelona president said. "I assure you that they are a big side, one of the best prepared teams in the Liga, and they also play very good football, alongside Barcelona."
He continued: "As for the Clasico, there will be time to talk about it, but I want to stress that we are fortunate to have Javier Tebas as president of the Liga. He has the experience required to deal with matters like these, and he has the good judgement needed to counter the attacks Real Madrid are launching on the Liga. It seems they want to destroy everything. They want to destroy the Liga and the referees' technical committee. They are also unhappy with the Spanish federation, and nothing pleases them."
Laporta went on: "Fortunately, the president of the Liga understands the reality of what is happening. He has also fought many battles and gained great experience, which makes him capable of countering these attacks, which are unbecoming of a club that is a member of the Liga, as Real Madrid adopt a position or an approach based on constantly attacking everything that is done."
Turning to Real Betis, Laporta pointed to a squad brimming with motivation and talent. He has seen team spirit put first, he said, and he backs his players to win again and keep the perfect start to the season going.
He added: "Today we play against Real Betis, a big team who also play football at a high level. After that, a meeting with Paris Saint-Germain awaits us in Paris, the match the football world is dreaming of in this current period we are living through. Then we close out the week by facing Real Madrid at our stadium."
"We hope we can win today and maintain the gap or increase it," he concluded. "I think we have a big week ahead, and for Barcelona's fans, it is a week worth living in full detail and enjoying."
