“I would be really surprised” – Top journalist predicts Chelsea’s reaction double Enzo disaster
Liam Twomey thinks there will be sniggering behind the scenes at Chelsea over what’s happening at Man City right now.
The big story during this international break was Man City, whose decade of cheating at an astronomical levels was finally confirmed by the Premier League.
It’s all rather amusing for Chelsea fans, who saw their manager and one of their best players blow up their Chelsea careers just for a chance to join City. Now nobody is certain about anything there.
Liam Twomey was on the Son of Chelsea podcast this week, and he agreed there would be a certain level of amusement at Chelsea over what’s going on in Manchester.
Schadenfreude on the menu for Chelsea suits
“I haven’t heard that directly from anyone at Chelsea. But I’d be stunned if there wasn’t some laughing going on behind the scenes,” Twomey admitted.
“Because, just the tone of that breakup [shows], the lingering ill-feeling, particularly towards Maresca. The club felt he forced the issue mid-season, and they still feel that that he wrecked their season.
“I don’t think it’s quite that simple as that, but it was certainly a big factor. So now the idea that Maresca pushed so hard to get this job, which increasingly looks like a house rigged with explosives.
“And Fernandez of course, pushing so hard first for Real Madrid and then for Man City to go and join Maresca. I would be really surprised if there wasn’t a big of schadenfreude at Stamford Bridge.”
