The Algerian star drew the spotlight with Leverkusen

Ibrahim Maza will not join Paris Saint-Germain during the upcoming winter transfer window, despite the impressive form the Bayer Leverkusen and Algeria international is showing in Germany and the interest of a number of clubs in his services.

According to the French network "RMC Sport", PSG have no plans to make an offer for the Algerian in January. There is simply no appetite within the club to move for him at this stage.

That decision holds even after the serious injury to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, which raised questions about whether the Parisian club might change its plans this winter.

Luis Enrique had already dismissed the idea that the Georgian winger's injury would push the club into the market. Speaking before the eighth-round Ligue 1 fixture against Olympique Lyonnais, which his side won 2-0, the PSG head coach insisted the team could cope with losing two or three key players.

The Spaniard said: "There is no injury that justifies the need to sign new players. I said at the start of the season that we can withstand the injury of two or three important players and their absence."

He added: "But it is clear that we remain attentive to every opportunity to sign a new player if we see that we have a genuine need for him. It is always our responsibility to monitor the opportunities available during the transfer window."

The Gouts option

Instead, the report says, PSG are counting on Mika Gouts, who scored his first goal for the club against Olympique Lyonnais on Monday. There is no clear desire to sign an attacker to cover for Kvaratskhelia.

Maza, meanwhile, is enjoying a flying start to the season. Three goals and three assists in 10 matches tell the story, but that brilliance will not be enough to tempt the French club into a January move.

Should PSG decide to strengthen this winter, the report added, they may look instead at a young player with huge potential and a modest price tag, and not necessarily an attacker.

The "Sky - Germany" network tells a different story, claiming Paris's interest in Maza runs deeper than mere speculation. The French club have "shown tangible interest" in the 20-year-old, and his entourage are aware of it.
