Xabi Alonso has called on Chelsea to learn from the tough moments as his side look to return to winning ways.

Chelsea face Manchester United in the Premier League tomorrow lunchtime, seeking to bounce back from a challenging week.

Alonso's side lost to Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge last weekend, before exiting the Carabao Cup at Liverpool in midweek. Chelsea lost the fourth-round tie on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Anfield.

Alonso has urged his team to regroup, ahead of the visit of Manchester United. United arrive in West London under pressure after eight games without a win in all competitions.

Ahead of the fixture, Alonso said his developing side will endure 'tough moments' but outlined the importance to learn from their setbacks.

"We are back in Premier League mode and that for me is the main competition for us - this year and almost every year," the Spaniard said at his pre-match press conference.

"It is a big one. We didn't have long to prepare but it's really important after the last home game we had that we keep winning games and get that winning feeling.

"As soon as we left Liverpool, we were thinking about United. I saw a better version of us on Wednesday than I did on Saturday, even though the result wasn't what we wanted in either. This is a journey where we will have tough moments and we need to learn from them."

Alonso confirmed that Maxence Lacroix will miss the clash with Manchester United, after sustaining a hamstring injury in midweek. The French defender will not return before the international break. Jorell Hato has also been ruled out.

"Max picked up an injury and we expect he will not be available before the international break. He will be out for a few weeks."
