Cole Palmer has agreed improved terms with Chelsea through 2034, extending his previous contract by a year as the club secures one of its key attackers.

Palmer, 24, had been contracted until 2033. The BBC reported the renewal on Saturday 10 October, describing it as one of the Premier League’s longest active deals; Erling Haaland, Joao Pedro and Geovany Quenda were also named as players contracted through 2034.

Palmer said Chelsea means a lot to him and that he is delighted to sign because he believes the club is going in the right direction.

Palmer’s extension adds to Chelsea’s long-term commitments

Palmer joined from Manchester City in 2023 for £42.5 million, and signed his previous contract two years before this extension. The BBC described the latest agreement as part of Chelsea’s efforts to reward established and emerging players while maintaining the club’s wage structure.

Joao Pedro signed through 2034 in August, while Pedro Neto agreed a new six-year contract in September. Those renewals sit alongside Palmer’s as Chelsea continue to secure attacking options for Xabi Alonso’s squad. Joao Pedro’s deal through 2034 and Neto’s six-year extension are recent examples.

Palmer has become one of Chelsea’s leading attackers and is increasingly seen as a dressing-room leader, according to the BBC. He has scored four goals and provided two assists in seven matches this season, and has built a strong understanding with Joao Pedro.

He has also renewed his on-field partnership with Morgan Rogers during the early stages of Alonso’s time in charge. The BBC reported that Palmer was among the few people aware of Chelsea’s negotiations to sign Rogers from Aston Villa for a club-record £117 million fee this summer. Palmer’s role in Alonso’s plans has been a talking point as the manager shapes the side.

“Speaking to the owners, to the sporting directors and obviously the manager, they gave me a lot of confidence so it was only right to sign,” Palmer said. He added that the players shared the same ambitions and that he wanted to play a major part in winning trophies.

Chelsea’s announcement says Palmer has recorded 91 goal contributions in 138 appearances and won the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Conference League with the club. The improved terms are confirmed; no salary figure was disclosed.
