Chelsea are already getting the benefits of not playing in Europe as they enjoy another free midweek to recover.

We wish Chelsea were in the Champions League, we really do. But it’s at this time of year where the advantages of missing out on it European football really become clear.

The Blues looked great on Saturday after having a free week to recover. This week there is yet another round of European games, while Xabi Alonso and his team are already focused on Saturday’s huge clash with Spurs – who themselves are playing tonight.

Xabi Alonso has perfect change to boost Chelsea

It’s a major advantage physically to have those extra days of recovery, and the time on the training pitch will allow Xabi Alonso to improve the team faster than his rivals. The advantage it gives us is just going to compound over time. Fewer games means less rotation is needed, which means stronger teams put out week after week, which means more chemistry developing between the regulars.

We’re so excited to see how much progress this team can make even just in the next few weeks, with the next international break coming up after the game against Leeds on the 21st of November.
